Social Responsibility
Languages United aims to be socially responsible and help the local and
global communities. We are conscious of environmental changes and the
need for everyone to act. We are taking action as an organisation and
encourage our students to do the same.
The school has taken a number of steps to reduce its impact on the
environment. These include:
-
Reducing our use of paper with electronic forms, student handbook and
student programme.
-
Reducing paper in the classroom by using online classrooms for giving
students resources and assignments.
-
Moving towards a paperless office.
-
Separating our waste for recycling.
-
Using multiuse cups for drinks instead of disposable plastic cups.
-
Asking students to bring their own reusable water bottle to reduce
plastic waste. Promoting the
Refill
app so that students can refill their bottles when they are out.
We are currently running a project to measure and reduce our carbon
footprint. Details of the project will be posted here as it progresses.
Learning about social responsibility
In our lessons we encourage students to practise their English by
discussing topics and issues, and looking at the world around them.
We hope that students will start viewing themselves as global citizens
- considering the environment and other people.
Continuing the themes of our lessons, students take part in projects
that involve them in the local community.
More details of the social responsibility activities that our students
take part in can be found on the
Student Blog
page.
